To determine the highest quality soil with the richest microbial activity and health. We wanted to transplant plants to their own pots and wanted to get natural high quality soil from nature. Not sure exactly which soil was the best we used the Earthlight to go soil hunting and find the best quality soil.

We observed various levels of brightness from the Earthlight. We were able to determine by the LED indicator which soil was the best. We noticed that some soils that we thought would be a good choice didn't have that much EC and microbial activity. After taking 6 different soil samples we found the the soil by a rotting decomposing tree that was also shaded by a tree had the brightest green LED indication from the Earthlight, telling us that soil was the best to use for our plants. We learned about how to tell from certain environmental conditions and variables where is best to look for the healthiest most active living soil which we can verify with Earthlight.
