The Problem
Counterfeiting is now one of the largest and fastest growing sectors of the world economy, now making up between 8%-10% of total trade worldwide. The economic damage that counterfeit products inflict on the market is staggering, resulting in over $600 billion a year in lost revenues. Much of this is an unintended side effect of global outsourcing and increased purchasing over the Internet by customers. The fact is that many manufacturers and purchasers have effectively lost control of their supply chains.
The damage that counterfeiters do is not just economic
• About 2% of the 26 million parts installed on aircraft worldwide are counterfeit, endangering pilots, passengers and cargo around the world.
• Counterfeit drugs result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. It is estimated that up to 10% of all drugs sold worldwide are counterfeit.
• Fake military parts put our warfighters and our country’s defense directly at risk. It is estimated that 15% of the chips purchased by the Defense Department are counterfeit.
• More than a million suspect counterfeit electronic components have been involved in over 1,800 confirmed cases of counterfeit parts affecting US military hardware.
The CHQR Solution
The CHQR 3D code (or label) is a revolutionary product labeling technology that solves the widespread problem of counterfeit labels across a variety of vertical markets including the United States Department of Defense supply chain, consumer goods, and industrial products.
CHQR 3D codes are designed to be conformant with the Department of Defense DoD Counterfeit Prevention Policy DODI 4140.67 as well as other major governmental and industrial anti-counterfeiting policies and standards.
The Technology
CHQR 3D codes combine the ability to store an order of magnitude more information than any other labelling technology along with military grade encryption that makes them virtually impossible to read or copy without access to an CHQR enabled reader or smartphone. Despite their state of the art technology, CHQR 3D labels are affordable to implement and can be printed on conventional color printers with certified inks. For applications that require very high levels of security, we offer increased anti-counterfeiting capabilities of the label by utilizing conventional printer cartridges incorporating invisible inks. Dramatically Increased Storage Capacity In addition to its unique anti-counterfeiting features, CHQR 3D Codes dramatically increase the storage capacity of product labels, holding an order of magnitude more information than a standard QR code.
Our technology uses photonics (the science of light) to pack more information into the same footprint. We have successfully tested labels that contain 1,000% more information than a standard QR code, and are currently testing codes that contain over 1,200% more information. This ability to hold much larger quantities of information allows the encoding of provenance and track-and-trace information in the label itself, instead of relying on an external database. Prevents “ATAGGING” Attacks QR Codes can automatically direct you to a URL or website upon scanning. This can be exploited by hackers and foreign governments to download viruses and compromise your computer systems. CHQR Codes prevent this by being virtually impossible to counterfeit. Military Grade Holographic Encryption CHQR 3D Codes use state of the art holographic encryption to encrypt and decrypt the information stored in the labels. Built in error checking allows the information to be recovered even if part of the label is damaged or missing.
CHQR 3D codes can be printed on conventional color printers. CHQR 3D Codes dramatically increase the storage capacity of product labels, holding an order of magnitude more information.
Scanning Technology
CHQR QR Codes can be scanned with handheld scanners as well as with Smartphones. A proprietary Holographic photonic grid fits over the scanner or smartphone camera converting to a CHQR enabled label reader. The holographic grid is transparent, so scanners can still read existing bar codes and QR codes. Read CHQR codes with Existing Scanners or Smartphones. CHQR QR codes are scanned using hyperspectral imaging. The hyperspectral imaging software extracts the embedded information from the color image, and then uses a holographic decryption algorithm to decrypt it into a standard readable text format. The software can be run on conventional computing devices including smartphones.
Support for Existing Industry Standards.
Once the information has been decrypted, it can be output as a set of standard QR codes and be read by industry standard scanners or software packages. Integration with Inventory and Trace & Track Software.
The CHQR 3D codes can be integrated with existing ERP systems such as SAP and Oracle. It can also be integrated with Track and Trace software as well as cutting edge Blockchain supply chain implementations.
